Green Days! Pashmina Shawls For Green Goddesses!

Green is a colour that gets a lot of bad press. But if you don't feel strongly that it's an unlucky shade, it's infinite varieties are a pleasure to wear. Yes, it's more difficult than blue - greens are just a bit more spikey and are unwilling to suit everyone with every shade - but when you find the green that works with your skin tone, it will look absolutely stunning, rather than safe.

Firstly here are the plain Pashmina Cashmere & Silk choices in stock at the moment.

Pashmina! A brand new season of beaded fringe pashmina shawls!

Bright Orange Pashmina Shawl with Bugle Bead fringe
Beaded fringe are some of our most consistently popular 'fancy' pashmina shawls. They are the 70% Pashmina & 30% Silk quality regular weight shawls that people know and love; but along with the comfort of knowing that you will be kept warm in our unpredictable whether, there is the added value of looking glamorous as well.  http://www.pashminasdirect.co.uk/Details.asp?ProductID=115

They are an ideal shawl for a big occasion - particularly weddings where you may be in a cool church or outside for photographs.  We have a choice of Cream and an Ivory Shawl for brides, and can order particular colours on request for Mothers of the Bride or Bridesmaids.  The beaded fringe provides a weight to the end of the shawl that keeps it draped as you want it, but isn't too heavy. There is a 4-6 weeks delivery time for special orders.

This season we've added to our colour range with Silver, Pale Coral and Sienna Red making a first and welcome appearance.  Pale Pink makes a long awaited return and Black is back once more after selling out before Christmas.  All our Beaded fringe Pashminas are made in Nepal from 70% Pashmina Cashmere & 30% Silk.

Winter Pashmina sale! Grab a summer shawl now!

I'm featuring one of our winter sale items that is new to Pashminas Direct. Previously exclusive to our luxury sister site www.mayfair-valley.co.uk, these Pashmina Cashmere and Kattan Silk lightweight shawls  have been available at the RRP of £230.
As only one of each colour of these beautiful hand embroidered shawls is now in stock, we're able to offer them at a final clearance price of £75.00! A designer shawl at a cheeky price! Available in Turquoise, Rose Pink, Palest Peach or Grass Green.
http://www.pashminasdirect.co.uk/Details.asp?ProductID=259

The lightweight weave is a useful weight of shawl for the summer. It wards off the sun and also the cashmere content (70% pashmina cashmere/30% silk as usual) gives a little warmth to counteract air-conditioning. The summer weight is exactly the same proportion of cashmere to silk as in our regular shawls and scarves, however the fibres are spun to be finer.

In this case the Kattan Silk gives a slightly different texture to normal summer weight blends. It adds a little solidity to the weave so that it holds a firmer shape rather than draping like water. In effect it stands a little proud, like all good occasion wear stoles do!

Palest Peach & Grass Green

You can also pick up a Cream shawl in this style at this special price, although the Cream colour is not currently on offer on Mayfair Valley and is at full RRP. This is because this shawl has one small fault in the weave. http://www.pashminasdirect.co.uk/Details.asp?ProductID=90

A visit to Pashmina Land

Pashminas at the ready! All action stations today, as the Boss leaves for Nepal on Monday morning. So we're currently trying to remember all those ideas for new designs that have come to us in the last couple of months, and are hoping to seeing some of them realised. On a personal front, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a new Raspberry sample. (As you know, finding the ideal raspberry is becoming a personal quest.)

The Boss is always keen to go and visit our suppliers, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the pashmina talk might not be the only incentive. Could it be lovely Kathmandu, Everest or the delights of the hotel massage/facial/pedicure services... that keeps drawing her back?

Whatever, pictures are coming of our Nepalese friends!

How to wear a pashmina square (or any other square scarf)

New for Autumn/ Winter 2009 2010 will be the square scarf. Of course, we in Pashmina Land think purely in pashmina cashmere terms and don't hold with all these man made equivalents. And we've got a couple of gorgeous 100% pash. square treats coming up on PashminasDirect....
Still the same principles apply to wearing the beast (whatever its content).

So how do you wear it?

Here we must bow down to the Italians in their passion for accessories and all things pashmina. The large square scarf - and I mean about 1 metre squared, no little pathetic neckerchief - should be folded into a triangle with the centre point down your chest like a cowboy. The two side points of the triangle are then crossed behind the neck and brought forward so that they drape down over your shoulder blades. Simple and elegant, or rock-chick chic, whatever is your flavour.

Giving a raspberry

As ever we are plagued by that age old question, what colour is raspberry ?
In fashion terms people think of it as cerise, bright pink, fuchsia... or berry red. But when you offer all those colours already and someone goes and orders a RASPBERRY, where do you go?

Default mode, in these circumstances is panic and then grab the Pantone book and guess.
A raspberry russian roulette -pink or red. Life's too short.
Tomorrow we will be having kittens about pistachio. That's Pashmina Land for you. http://www.pashminasdirect.co.uk
